5 door interior question ; What sits here ?

Is seems like there used to be something between the passenger doors and rear seats just where I've marked in red. Its also more noticeable in real life due to the discoloration of the carpet. Anyone knows please ?

There is usually a little plastic step. No I am not a 70 series expert, but most of the range has these. They fit over the threaded mountings and are then held in by a coarsely threaded plastic screw. They tend to get kicked off.
