[ADMIN] Quick Poll - vehicle logs

Hi All,
Hope you are all enjoying our lovely summer weather and not working to
hard ;-)
Just thinking forward to functionality to go up into a member's area of
the ELCO site and was wondering if any of you would be interested in a
vehicle log facility.
[I am just developing something along these lines for a client, which
is got me thinking]
Basically a facility where you can record mileage and fuel purchases to
generate consumption details as well as log what servicing is done and
when.
As an individual user you would have a convenient means for monitoring
fuel consumption and getting email reminders for up coming servicing
like oil/filter changes.
As a group we would benefit from the analysis of the collective data to
provide details of mpg per model/age/configuration, etc.
Basically your details would remain private, but the overall analysis
would be available to other members and users to the website.
The functionality could be extended to kit suppliers and costs so you
log the kit you have on your LC and the approximate costs, so that
others could then look up for example '16" steel wheels' and see who
supplies them and approximate costs.
Food for thought.
I look forward to your feedback.

Julian,
I suppose it's worth trying. And I suggest it should not be anonymous.
At least had a way of knowing who skimps on regular maintenance and
which problems he/she later reports on the list :)

Yes. I second that. I have an excel log of 7500 euros in two years. I'll be happy to share it.
Last euro spent were on a walbro pusher pump I'm extremely happy with the results. I'll post longer comments about it latter.

I have an excel log as well, but have a nasty habit of forgetting to keep it up to date with
fuel records.
An all in one calculator that works out consumption and emails service reminders would be really
handy.
Also being able to compare to other people's similarly specked vehicles would be good.

Hi Julian
Where do you get the time to do all this. At the moment I try to keep it in
my head, I usually end up changing the engine oil before it should be
changed by keeping a sticker on the door to remind me of when the next one
is due. To start it off would we have to submit when we did what to what
part of the cruiser and then go from there. I think any idea that would keep
our Cruisers working better would be great.

Hi John,
Unfortunately I don't have any spare time, except weekends when I
refuse to do office work, but occasionally get away will keeping
friends cars on the road.
I usually start at 8 and work through to 6 and then if busy start again
around 10pm working through to 2ish.
However if I can persuade a client to pay for something similar to this
it doesn't take long to modify it for ELCO.
The game plan would be that when people register to use the site and
use the list they fill out a few details about their vehicle including
model, age, mods, etc. There will be a list of suppliers and
manufacturers built in so listing the mods would just be a case of
going through a pick list.
Then on the servicing side they plug in some history of service
intervals, etc and then each time they fill up they enter the details,
the system should then do the rest.
