Hi,
With nearly 200 people on the list I am disappointed to say that I have so
far only had 12 responses to my email the other day about organising a
weekend Wales and only 7 of those are able to come.
I would like to get a few more people together to make it all worthwhile
so if you haven't yet responded to my email, please could you let me know
whether you are or are not interested and whether you can or cannot come.
Even if you aren't interestet, or can't make those dates I would still
like to hear from you.
Nothing is cast in stone yet, so if there are enough people interested,
but the dates aren't convenient for the majority I can always change the
dates.

Hello Julian,
I'm unfortunately away, camping in France the bank holiday weekend with a
bunch of friends.
Could the low response be because it's a bank holiday weekend and people
have already made plans to go elsewhere?
Cheers
Dirk

Hi Dirk,
Thanks for letting me know.
Possibly although I am asking for positive as well as negative responses, so
even if you can't come I would like to know - with no response at all it is
difficult to tell if someone can't come, don't want to come, or just can't
be bothered to respond to the email ;-)))

Julian,
I haven't attended any ELCO gatherings and I would liked to attend something
in Wales, but a new arrival to the family, due any day now, will most likely
preclude me, well is preventing me making firm plans anyway.
I hope you persist and I can attend an event in the future, hopefully with
my FJ45!

Hi Malcolm,
I sympathise on the baby front - allways makes things tricky (my
youngest is now 9months old, but fortunately has been exceptionally
easy to deal with although the wife keeps on muttering about a forth
now!!).
Good luck with it.

Hi All,
Just as a side note. It doesn't matter if you don't have a battle
ready land cruiser to go laning in - the main object of the weekend is
to meet other like minded people so you could always leave your LC at
the campsite and then go off laning/mud plugging with somone else.

Hello Julian,
I'm unfortunately a little far away in Scotland for the arranged trips, but would like to say that I have learned a lot from the digest and appreciate your time in organising ELCO and the contribution of other members.
After being to Australia and seen the real 4WD, I wanted a Landcruiser when I came back.
Am driving a '92 HDJ81 import, 1HD-T auto. Very clean. Bought with 64k, now at 77k. 285/75R16 BFG ATs bought from www.mytyres.co.uk. Came with chrome bull bar and aftermarket alloys. Even had japanese coins under carpet and white wool gloves for changing tyres. Fuel injector pump started to leak - fixed cheaply but professionally by Lucas - friend of a friend!! Foremans quote "Would happily drive this to Africa and back - leak or no leak". No other probs but shopping for a stainless steel exhaust and OME lift. Have fitted K&N, lights, Witter tow bar for trailer.
Very little success with Mr T - very helpful, offering lots of coffee but never producing items asked for.
Milner much better.
Don't know if this has been posted before, but am following the travels of two 80s (and the drivers/divers) on a trip from UK to NZ. See www.overland-underwater.com. Expedition spec 80s with info on service schedule and spare parts. Some feedback from work done by Frogs Island, use of kit and how its faring eg Old Man Emu, snorkels, tyres, winches, etc, etc. Best info - 'buy only Toyota brake pads'! 280 days on the road so far. Layout plans for easy make shelves in the back - fancy trying that myself.
Serious thanks to Jon Wildsmith for the manuals post. Love your Mud Toy. www.mudtoys.com

Hi Alan,
Good to hear from you - we have a lot of 'lurkers' here who sit back and
watch the messages without joining in and it good to hear from you guys
and girls every so often.
You best bet would be to talk to Eddie at Frogs Island, they now do a
2.5" stainless steel exhaust for 80 series and also are distributors for
OME. When choosing the springs and shocks do make sure that you work out
how much weight over standard you are likely to be carrying on the front
and the back so you get the correctly rated springs and dampers.
THanks for the link - it's good to see someone going into so much detail
on their vehicle prep and I agree with them about sticking to Toyota
brake pads.
