AHC crossmember pipe rusty

Hi all,

I recently purchased a LC200 and I've been inspecting the underside for potential problems.

One of thing that looks a bit scary is the rust on the rear AHC crossmember piping.

The AHC is working fine, maybe even slightly better since I flushed the fluid.

What do you guys think? Does it look like something that should be replaced ASAP or will it be good for a while?

Also, it's been wrapped in something, maybe it has been patched because of a previous leak? Is this normal?

Mine look similar. I didn’t change the AHC pipes but the joints above rear axle broke so got that repaired under warranty in 2021. Since then I am getting yearly Krown rust proofing treatment. It's good since then. At some point these might give up but not worried until it breaks.
When those AHC joints broke, I drove her back home more than 100 miles with failed suspension. I might do same if those AHC pipes give up at some point and will replace them at that point

I left mine at a friends house. Will post pics of my AHC pipes for comparison when I collect mine after 2 weeks.

I've just had mine burst a couple of weeks back, my mechanic, Land Cruiser specialist, makes his own repair section for this pipe out of 10mm copper pipe and brass compression fittings, that way, no more corrosion issues. That pipe seems to be the only one that suffers, probably due to the heat protection wrap that holds water, salt etc. He replaced his one this way 5 years ago, so well proven, he owns a 2012 200 series.
