My husband and I both have 200 Series Saharas (2015 and 2016 vehicles). Both of them have a horrible musty smell and we can't work out what's causing it. There are no rat or mouse nests in the vehicles. 1 is kept in a garage, the other outside so the issue is not a cat spraying the vents in the front of the cars, because they can't get to the one in the garage. Its an inconsistent problem which usually arises after the vehicles have been sitting a while (say all night or all day) and then started. Its a really musty smell which usually goes away when the air conditioning is turned on for a while. Has anyone else experienced a similar thing or can anyone suggest a solution please? Thanks

Hi, it sounds like the air con evaporator has moulding on it. This is normal and is often found on any commercial refrigerator. An air con service that includes cleaning the evaporator coil (with coil cleaner) should cure it until it comes back. Ideally if the service is performed each year it should keep the smell away. Hope this helps.

Oh, and welcome to the club BTW. If you plan on staying, which we hope you do, we're a really friendly bunch who like to get to know our new members and especially see photos of their cruisers as we all love photos. There's also lots of info on here plus trips that folks have taken which are really interesting and often have lots of great photos.

Best wishes
Richard
