arb locker on a 70

Hi all,
I have a KZJ70 and have got some clunking and odd noises coming from the
back DIFF/AXLE, this only happens when below 20mph and keeping the throttle
very light.
The prop shaft look ok and have grabbed it and tried to move it...
It's difficult to track down exactly where it is coming from.
The diff is an LSD, looks like I am going to have to tear down the axle to
see if any thinks is worn/broken.
If the LSD/DIFF is gone, I would like to replace it with an ARB locker, has
anyone done this before on a 70 series?
Will it slot straight in? If anyone has any experience fitting a locker on
70 series or has any ideas how to narrow this noise down please let me
know?
Thanks
Martin.

Hi Martin,
I've fitted them on 80s, but not 70, although I suspect that there is
little difference - a relatively straight forward job.

Just out of interest - is the 70 series the same diff across the range or is
the LJ smaller ring (like hilux)?

Hi Julian,
Thanks for the reply, do you know anyone who would carry out the work?
I could get Frogs or someone to fit but it would be a major expense, besides
they never return my calls ;-).
Maybe you would like to do it, for a fee of course I am sure you need the
extra cash with all those children of yours, beg.... ;-)
Thanks
Martin.

I believe they 8" 10 stud diff(30 spline), and they are the same as the
Hilux models...

Another thing, that's not across the 70 range, the LJ uses 8" and the Heavy
Duty uses 9.5" or something like that...

Thanks, that=92s one to watch, I was thinking about LJ70 axles as a source for
disk brakes and thought I might just swap the whole axle, I think the Hilux
or LJ70 callipers might still be usable on my axles.

You might want to check first before committing to a purchase, the only
reason I say this is we tried installing a set of brake callipers off my old
KZJ70 onto a LJ70. They did not fit, different sized disks If I remember
correctly.
The KZ is a 3.0 so I would imagine that's why the brakes are different from
a 2.4 and 5 years of age between the vehicles.
Are you going to be putting them on a FJ45?
