Could we have an option in the user options to enable subscription to threads were we have posted

If you go into your control panel (Top right), then select Board Preferences from the Options panel on the left then Edit Posting Defaults, there is an option there called "Notify me upon replies by default:"
This is normally off by default. If you turn it on, for any forum you posted a message, you'll get en email when it is updated.

Also if you look at the bottom of the text box you write your post in there is a check box to "Notify me when a reply is posted"
