back door rust (aka tail gate)

Water gets between the rubber and metal. Capillary action stops it drying out and even on dry days the rust is growing. Also this design can let water into the bottom of the unit and more rust. I glued my glass in after the unit was cleaned and repainted.

It took 20 years to rust holes in it. it's all welded up now and covered with a layer of tin/lead + primer, basecoat and 2K clear coat. + rust treatment on the inside (RX5)
I hope it will last another 5-6 years. then the rest of the truck will need a respray as well. it turned out better than I expected, considering it being the first time that I use a paint gun on a car and that it is metallic paint. No runners just a tiny bit of orange peel, but nothing a bit of elbow grease can't cope with.
after this result, I invested in a nice and shiny Devilbiss spray gun. should give a better spray pattern than the 10 euro one I used.
