Im off to SA in two weeks time for a month and just wanted to ask what i should do about my batteries?

A) Nothing
b) Disconnect and hope for the best
c) Disconnect and move them inside to keep them warmer
d) get a trickle charger
e) Ask a mate to pop around midway and start her up and run the engine for an hour or so

b) would be my choice

d) after you get home if they're dead

Take them off the car, fully charge them and store them somewhere between 10-15 degC. If they're even half decent they should easily last 1 month with no drain.

You wont need to do anything, they will be absolutely fine in the car and it will start just as normal after a month.

dont worry

I leave mine on the car for over a month at a time without even thinking about it. The was I see it if they do drain after a month then either you need new batteries or you have a slow battery drain so worth while test.

Personally if its only for a month I would just disconnect the battery, just make sure you have the radio code if required. When I leave my truck (maybe 6 or 8 months), I normal connect the battery to a Ctek charger.

I've just discovered my newly acquired 80 has a Ctek charger wired in. Reading up on how the Ctek works etc I noted a reverse drain current spec is quoted. So if one leaves the vehicle standing for an extended time with a Ctek connected but not powered up then the battery will get drained, right?

Just to close this thread I did nothing as recommended and she started up at the slightest turn of the key no worries so thanks.

Great thanks. Lots more positivity than I expected and we had wonderful warm weather. It sealed the deal for us to head back at the end of this year and give it a shot.
