Squeaking noise coming from generator drive belt tensioner this morning. The tensioner is not turning, this should be turning shouldn't it? Also, the arrow mark indicator seems to be out of acceptable range, belt change?
Thanks for help!

I think the tensioner pulley must be turning otherwise you would have clouds of rubber smoke.

Actually it wasnt. The bearings had seized. Ended up pressing the bearings out of the pulley and replacing.

It's no big deal albeit a bit expensive a job.

The tensioner should be replaced along with the belt and some say the cam pulley too all at the same time as a matter of course, at the belt change interval. So maybe at worst you've had to replace the belt (and the rest) a little early.

I don't know the history of the truck, but you're probably paying the price of the PO's misguided attempt to save money at the last belt change.

(sorry if it was you, no offence meant!).

However, I does highlight that the tensioner should be changed as regularly as the belt.
