Biggest tires on 76 series V8

Hi guys, just checking what the biggest tires on can fit without a lift, 255/85/R16 and 285/75/R16 - any ideas as i like the 255

I'd just get the 255's and if they don't fit it's a good excuse to get uprated springs too :-D
