Ian - my thoughts exactly.
I wondered if the Scottish mile was in fact shorter than the English
mile hence the incredible consumption. In fact the Scottish mile is
LONGER than the English mile. See link -

Either way pretty amazing. The furthest I have ever managed is 460 ,
non motorway - Welsh miles on one tankful.
By the way John - the Irish acre is different to the English acre -
