Bulgaria/Romania 2016

i find out on fri afternoon
Good luck Mike, today I had to go into hospital so they could take some chunks out of my kidney for a biopsy, I shall hear the results in about a fortnight.
One bit of good news though is I was going to have to stay in overnight because of fear of the kidney bleeding but I had to lay still flat on my back for 6hrs and there was no sign of blood in my pee so they let me come home, I've just got back and getting my LC fix.

I knew a girl called Elsie once i'm not sure she ever cured anything but she sure made you forget about it for a while ;)

I think we've all known an Elsie at some time Shayne, maybe by a different name.

Good luck with the biopsy BTW.

My quest to find out why my back pains me has taken me in a circle. The back physio guy that I see 3 times a week (gym floor stretch work, stomach and back muscles) wanted to try some manipulation, but insisted on an MRI scan first.

Got that and the report recommended having my kidneys checked :icon-rolleyes:. Went for a kidney ultrasound and the report from that identified sand (not too much of a worry) and "old" cysts.

The kidney specialist doc said "old" means nothing useful to him, so he sent me for an iodine dye Catscan. The report with that addresses liver, spleen, kidneys, pancreas, prostate and all sorts, and shows 5 kidney cysts (of various sizes), and a hiatal hernia that I knew nothing of.

Goodness knows what's next, hopefully someone will conclude I've got a bad back and that the Gym work will improve it. Who knows.... :shifty:

I have had quite a few ultra sound and MRI scans now because of the kidney problem (about 3/4 years worth), they show up 'shadows' on both kidneys which luckily haven't grown in size since the first scan so probably not cancer but apparently my kidneys are passing too much protein and the Docs are trying to find out why. It may be they are just wearing out, in the worst case though it could mean a kidney transplant. sad-021.gif

Rung a bell this Chas so i asked Helen and she suffered kidney stones as a teenager working the horses running up and down the beach in a bikini . She was coughing up blood and being sick but they couldn't operate because it was too dangerous .
She spent 3 weeks in hospital on intravenous drips and vaguely remembers her father arguing with doctors because he would not accept that dehydration could cause her to have too much protein in her body .

So there you have it - no more running up and down the beach in a bikini for you my friend :eusa-naughty:

Me neither, and I'm drinking 3 litres of water per day...:puke-front:

sorry been away but i have not got any better for me, to the point where i am using my mate Wayne to sort the Landrover out.
6 years ago i found out i had CLL cancer which is the adult version of leukaemia, i was told i could be 1 year or the rest of life before it got to the point i would need help.
Well it has happen i need help, i have been very lucky to hide my fatigue from everyone but on the last trip to Romania it got a bit bad to point of i had to take time out of some of the day trips as i now understand the days were too long for me. The last trip i did with my good friend Chris again was not to bad as i was a paying customer i was able say how long the days were.
Well there you have it.
I hope u all understand the trip to Romania is cancel for me but please all of u that go please have a great trip,

AND I WILL BE BACK ONE DAY

That's a bugger Mike, really sorry to hear that here's hoping you make a good recovery and we'll meet again on some trip or other.

So sorry to hear that Mike,as Chas said hope you make a speedy recovery buddy I really do.

Oh man, not good at all, so sorry you're going to miss out.

Take it easy mate, but live your life as you always have, to the full.

My sis lived with C for over 20 years. She managed to stay a happy person, and she brought happiness to all that knew her. You'll live longer and have a better quality of life.

If ever you can get here, which ever way, you can choose your length of day, and I'll gladly be your pilot.

I know it's not the same, but it's better than the settee.

Take care of you Mike and thanks for letting us know, we've all been concerned by the recent silence.

Hi Mike
I have been away on holiday so i missed the post about your illness and have just chanced upon it now . I assume there's not much i can say that you haven't heard many times before from others but just wanted you to know Helen and i enjoyed meeting you on the Romania trip and appreciate that we may not have gone there at all had you not suggested the trip on the forum so thanks for that . You will be missed this year , it just won't be the same without a landrover to take the piss out of , and i still can't work out what was going on in your head when you bought the fur wall decoration in that cafe

All the best mate hope to see you again at the overland show or Lincomb or some such place

Sorry to hear of your illness Mike. I hope whatever can be done will be done and that you are fighting fit in no time.

Chas, sorry too that you've got kidney troubles. I'm sure they will have told you but drinking plenty of water is essential. Especially in this heat. Hope it gets sorted and you don't need an op.

Best wishes to you both.

I'm not really having any problems yet, there are five stages of kidney disease and I'm on stage four, stage five means dialysis or transplant I've been told though, in so many words, that at my age it's not worth the bother of an operation, of course they didn't say that exactly but that's what they meant. I was also told that stage four could last many years without progressing to stage five so fingers crossed.

I would be very surprised if they would not give a transplant out of choice Chas. I was amazed at the care given to my 90 yr old mum this year found barely conscious with a urine infection and hypothermia. I don't expect it would have been any different for a teenager. I thought there would be ' she's had a good innings' or something like but not a bit of it. I guess in your case it all depends on finding a match. One of the Sussex 4x4 Response members is donating one of his kidneys to his dad this year.
Hope you stay on stage 4.

Yes Rich, but your Mum can't look as bad as Chas, one look at him and you start digging!

Oops was that the wrong thing to say?

Hi Chas, didn't see you there mate, how you doin'?
