Hello all,

In the title really.

Can a 120 D4-d safely trailer another 120 D4-d on a car trailer?

Looking at the towing weights, I am not sure legally.
I know physically it would have no problem.

Hi Graham

I have not got a 120, but I suspect its in the same place as the 100 series, but look under the bonnet on the bulkhead, and there should be data plate, which will give you the legal max weights, it will look something like:

3260
6760
1630
1950

The first number is the gross weight of the car, the second is gross train weight (ie Car. Trailer & load) and the last two numbers are the axle weights (Front and rear), now those are for the 100 series, so it means 3260 from 6760 means I can tow 3500 Kgs, but if I remember, the 120 is only 2800, so I suspect unless the 120 is about 2500 or less you cannot tow another 120 !

Thanks Steve,

I hope another 120 owner can chip in with the similar information.

Have you looked at your data plate ? if so what are you numbers ?

Hi Steve,

Me and the Land Cruiser are not together at the moment,
She is about 8000 miles away, :D

I am in China still.

The 120 can tow 2800kg with a max hitch ball load of 140kg. If you have a light trailer you might just pull it off (metaphorically of course)....Drain it of unnecessary fluids, ditch the spare wheel etc etc and that will all help.
