Catalytic converter fitment

Can anyone tell me from what year a catalytic converter was standard fitment on the 12v 80 series? I'm trying to pre-empt any possible MOT issues in advance....

The later 24v 80's had an oxidation cat from new but, AFAIK, not the earlier 12v models.

And according to my local Toyota main agent parts department no cat in the exhaust system in any form for my 24 valve diesel .

Well, I stand by my post about the fitting of an oxidation cat on the 24v diesels (taken from the 1997 sales brochure) but I had the LC MOT'd today and no mention of the 'missing' cat! No problem with the HID kits fitted in the high beams either. All that counts is the beam pattern which is good.
