Hi Guys
I know im asking again but still trying to learnand have such a long long
long journey to go. I have tried to look up chassis outriggers and all I can
seem to find is something to do with mudflaps or side steps. Are they bits
you attach to hold or extend something on the vehicle. If this is the case
what did Roman break on his cruiser.
cheers

John, good day.
Outriggers - basically very large brackets that project in a normally perpendicular manner in or outwards from the chassis rail. They are used to - support the vehicle body, attach items to such as fuel tanks exhausts, spring hangers.
Obviously of great structural importance - I hope yours are sound !
Regards Gareth.

The outrigger in question on the D/S (rear corner). It is a triangular
double bracket welded to the frame to support the bodywork with the
use of a round rubber block. When it packs up it becomes detached from
the chassis at the welded seams and is best replaced by fabricating a
new one. One LC happened to bust a front outrigger, another a rear
one, like mine. The damage is not terminal, it just causes the
bodywork to sit a bit awkward and sometimes makes strange noises.

Thanks Roman and Gareth, so I was close after all. Not a hope of me checking
out these outriggers untill it gets a bit nice weather wise, O I do like the
sun and a bit of heat. I know your going to make us all very envious with
your photos of warm sunny days and beautifull landscapes.
cheers

Hi Guys
So if you have one or more broken outruggers would this put extra strain on
the ones that are left.
What is the cause of them breaking, old age, corrosion, damage.
Can these all be strengtened in some way.
cheers
