[Chat police ticketing

Agree with all said. They should create a seperate force distint from the
police just for speeding and traffic ticketing.
In that way they will get all the blame and normal cops won't get tarnished
with the same brush.
It should all be safety related and if they produced real stats (which are
monitoring by an independant body e.g. AA) to show that putting in speed
restriuctions (and enforced by camera, signs, speed police or whatever) at
certain 'black' (or wherever any bad accident or death areas) has solved the
problem (Saved lifes, less accidents etc.). I would not be 'upset' in
getting a ticket in that area (and several warnings about black spot ahead
of time) under those circumstances where they can prove their effectiveness.
However it really pi**es me off when they are handing out tickets just from
a revenue standpoint and they claim we are upholding the law and stopping
accidents (bu****it). Suits them on one side and then not on the other (e.g.
let traffic move along at 80 mph otherwise they get grief from traffic jamps
and even MORE accidents)
I'm of the opinion that several (long and more remote) motorways should have
speed limits upped and other reduced to decrease road accidents etc. Look at
German autobahns and very few accidents compared to UK ; very few and where
they occur are at intersections (Getting on/off) so they reduce speed limits
there.
Don't even think about comparing to Irish road but a lot of issues there are
bad drivers - go-on I dare u to find an Irish driver that actually checks in
their mirror! and a lot of bad roads, the dual carriageways/motorways are
few and far between and only recent.
Anyway enough of a rant from the man that left the UK with 11 points and
will return again with it all clear (think its 5 years out). I worry more
when the points system is EU wide and getting a speeding in France goes on
your UK/IRL licence. Where can ya hide then?
Lal - in US where cops do revenue generation as well but little/no camera
clickers (and even when they do if u ignore it they can't enforce as the law
indicates u have to be presented a ticket by a cop in person!)
PS U don't want to know what I get mpg from a petrol engine (12 at moment!)
and how far that gets me? Which is even worse as my sender unit will not
trip the "on empty" light anymore!
Also finanlly managed to get my track bar loosened to fix my alignment.
Required lotsa propane torch and MFH and two bodies!

I agree it has nothing to do with safety at all, but is just another form of
TAX except you get points on your license as well. I think the public would
have more sympathy if they covered accident black spots or built up places
and schools etc. I am finding that more and more professional people are
becoming resentful of this police obsession and are seeing them simply as
the enemy. Around here they contribute nothing to road safety at all, they
ignore most other dangers and poor driving half of them have very poor
driving and observation skills and can often be seen committing all sort of
driving sins.

Hi anthony
I know what you mean about the sly ------- waiting to get you instead of
doing some thing better. Its all a money scam you know , its worth millions
to the tax man every year. Over here they have changed a lot of the signs
from mph to kph which is great fun, I find I am spending more time looking
at the speedo than what I should. Also here if you get a speeding ticket you
get points on your licence, two for speeding and if you go to court to fight
it and lose you get four points , after twelve you lose your licence and
have to resit your driving test, what a croc of ----. They also take the
soft targets to get such as the duel carrage ways here you are supposed to
do 40 mph, a double lane , good road and only to do 40. They wait in ambush
at a bridge or bend or some where where its hard to see them sneeky sneeky.
I have seen 8 police under a bridge at a bend on a duel carrageway just
after where it goes from 50 to 40 mph and they were catching loads of poor
motorists. Imagine 8 guys catching motorists on a duel carrage way and just
down the road from a really bad area where im sure they could have done more
good patroling this area and helping people feel save.I have found that I
can travel nicely behind a car with out getting a ticket because of the
height difference I can see futher and he is in front so he gets it, unless
its a camera then I get it, but has worked so far. I can see a time when we
will all have a radar detector, it is ecpensive but could save you money in
the long run.

Hi Lal
I have news for you about this euro wide speeding fines crap. We were told
that if we get caught speeding in france we will have points put on our
licence here in Ireland. I thought that I got caught last year in france , I
would swear that I saw a camera flash just as I went by it coming into one
of these small towns where you really have to be carefull. Thats all I could
think of for ages afterwards, but never heard anything from them. It is
amazing that they still go on with this crap here like you said Lal about
the safety issue of the whole thing about speeding, when every one knows its
about much more. Things like money, looking good for the cops, politians
saying we are doing some thing etc etc. But really what its about is the
motorist is a very easy target to get again and again. Here if you get
points your insurance goes up, just another way to get more money out of
you. We already have the highest insurance rates in europe. As you say a lot
of things have aan infulance on the road deaths , such as drink driving
which I see people doing and getting away with a lot. Car parks to pubs and
night clubs are always full, they are not all drinking coke are they. See
thats the other thing the cops and every one knows where and when to catch
these guys but they dont some thing to do with revenu , money, back handers,
easy life. I see boy racers who drive like all the residential roads are
race tracks but no cameras or cops there ever. I see cars that should not be
on the road and its abvious yet they are the ones that have never had their
cars tested and do not have insurance or tax. Im stopping now before I have
a stroke or some thing serious. Do you know how to check spelling on
e-mails cause some times I can be fairly bad .
