Colorado Bushes- Toyota or Other?

Hi, all.

Having sold my Disco 1 and loving my 2002 D-4D Colorado Auto, I'm seeking some advice.

The vehicle has just come back from an Intermediate service with Toyota. This went well, and the only really point of interest, was:

'Both front anti-roll bar bushes are worn, and the offside front link is slightly perished.'

At some point, these parts will be replaced by Toyota, but I was wondering whether this is the best course of action. My question is, should I stick with Toyota parts, or would I be better off buying superior quality bushes etc (from Milner)? Just mindful that the vehicle is 14 years old and technology/ parts may have evolved.

Unimportant parts i would just get them from wherever , i got Toyota's own 260 point check on my collie when i bought it and a broken link and roll bar bushes were the only thing to fail .

Roughtrax did do a heavier duty link a while back that's what i have on mine with superpro bushes iirc .

Assuming that yours stays mainly on tarmac, I would replace the bushes with Superpro items from Roughtrax. Good quality drop links are also available from them at very reasonable prices.

I'll Google the name and have a look. As I say, still getting used to the alternative parts suppliers in the UK, Milners being the extent of my knowledge, so far.

Ellie at Milner recommended the following, not sure whether they are the same as the Roughtrax, I'll have a look.

Some have removed the anti roll bar altogether and report no change in performance so don't be inclined to over think it . I just had a quick look at Roughtrax and the do sell KDJ95 drop links but not the heavy duty ones i got .

It may be useful for you to know while looking for parts that the KDJ drivetrain is identical to the KZJ models , i have one of each though mine are both swb and everything apart from the top half of the engine is interchangeable .

Also if you have a suspension lift you might want to use rear links on the front as they are a bit longer .

In my photo, the old link has Milner bushes on the top, probably 2 years old, there were ok but had gone very hard and deformed. Thrown them in my spares box just in case.

The Roughtrax links have a thicker shaft (oo-er) than the standard Toyota ones so in theory should be stronger. When I swapped them last summer the Toyota ones had done over 160k miles and only needed the top bushes replacing prior to the bottom joint failing on MOT. The new RT ones have only done 5K miles so it's a bit early to tell if they will last a similar distance.

Had Milner drop links on my 95 a few years ago. Snapped after 11 months & couldn't be bothered to chase up. Refitted original Toyota ones (hadn't thrown them out) &, at last MOT I had an advisory for one slightly perished rubber, so ordered a full set from Roughtrax. Fast service & much better quality. FWIW.
