Computerised MOT tests

I was having a chat with the guy at my local MOT station yesterday about
the new test regime. An interesting, if obvious point came up:
You put a vehicle through an MOT and it fails. The failure is logged on
the VOSA database. The database is set to flag automatically any failed
vehicle that is not logged back on to the system for a retest or new
test within two weeks of the fail. The flag goes to the local plod who
are then supposed to keep a look out for said vehicle as 'likely not to
have a current MOT'
Worth bearing in mind.
