Well now.... erm, it's like this.

We went down to BOAB last Friday and looked at the Air Tops and decided that is what we wanted, so arranged to go and pick it up today.

While there today I started looking at the Maggiolina Safari version. After weighing up the pros and cons, and a little ifing and aring followed by sucking air through teeth we settled on the Maggiolina.

I like the way the Air Top goes up, but wasn't entirely happy with reaching over the front to pull it down squarely... I know I'm probably just being fussy.

The Mag seems so much more simpler with the 'Windy Miller windy handle' in the one corner.

The Mag won on a security point too as once it is down you need the handle (or a similar tool) to get it up, so whatever is in there is reasonably safe.

I'm sure I would have been happy with the Air Top but the Mag seemed to tick a few more boxes for me in the end.

Now que the horror stories about the Mag pantograph system...... please tell me there are none?

Hoping to have the 80 colour matched to the Mag shell too.

Heard of linkage derailments but not witnessed or suffered any myself and wouldn't put me off having one but I'd be tempted to uncover the workings for a peak so if something does happen you have a better idea how it works and how to get it sorted. If I were buying a brand new one I'd be torn which to have, the pros and cons seem pretty balanced.

Chris at BOAB said he has never heard of any issues with the Mags.... having said that, after today's experience I am convinced he must have a room full of donkeys hind legs somewhere
