EGT + Boost Gauge.

I fitted some Isspro gauges several years ago and had zero problems with them. I ended up ordering them from a diesel tuning shop in Canada as they were out of stock in the UK suppliers and they appeared much cheaper until I got a bill for an extra £40 for VAT and ID from DHL which made them around the same price!

you can also get pillar pod gauge mounts, then there at eye level

I also tried to fit an EGT probe. drilled a hole in the EGR blanking plate and put a cheap chinese egt probe in, which I connected through an arduino to a lcd display.
worked perfectly for a few weeks and died. The culprit was the lining between the high temp textile wires and the ss braided sleeve around them. the plastic lining melted, soaked into the textile and when it cooled down again, formed a solid wire. a bit of vibration from the engine broke it of.
It was a fun little project, programming the arduino and mounting it all, but next time I'll take a better probe.

I searched around for a pillar pod which seem to be readily available for the 80 series in Oz but not over here.

Where is the best place to put the probe? Easiest if there is a choice.

Thanks

As near to the cyl head as possible for accuracy. I mounted mine in the ex manifold just above the turbo. I thought about mounting it in the EGR blanking plate at the rear end of the manifold but decided the gas flow and hence temp accuracy wouldn't be as good there.

Tp has covered it.
heres the gauge pod in mine.

VDO gauges are readily available and are held in high regard Frank

VDO EGT gauge in celsius is not available in the U.K. as far as I can tell. I've been trying to find one for a while. Oz looks like the place to order one if it's VDO you want.

i got mine from e gauges in the us.

Think you might want to check the engine oil pressure sender ....;-)
lol. its been like that since I had it when there was 89000 miles on the clock. I tend not to look at it..:icon-smile:

better put some fuel in tomorrow to...

Stack gauges would by my choice, not the cheapest but good quality.
