Any news on the ELCO Forum Front? methinks we ought to have at least one...
Renate

A while back, in a fit of madness I started up landcruisers.org and then
promptly left it.
If Julian or anyone wanted to take it over and run it I wouldn't mind. I
don't have the time.

I just visit the ELCO site from time to time and don't contribute much,
apart from today of course!
Jules is probably busy too, so I guess it limped away into a hole.
If I were able to be the moderator it would only be on part-time basis
unfortunately, and Jules wouldn't want the likes of me to do it anyway...
But, Julian dear boy, wotcha think?
You can hit me offlist if you like...

Hi Renate,
I have about a months hard core development to do the final tidying up of our
new system before we finally launch and will then move the landcruisers.info
domain across to it, which will provide a web forum interface for the list
plus a host of other stuff.
Thanks for the patience.
I'm actually not in that much of a rush to do it because I'm slightly worried
that we will get flooded with new members which will dilute the community that
we already have.

Julian,
A flood of new members will not dilute what we have now, over a
period of time it will strengthen it. I am on other forums that have
gone this way.
As a suggestion you could create an area that is for trusted
folks only, this stops prying eyes from finding out that X is running
his bus on veg oil. This also protects a bit from the schoolchild
newbies that appear during the hols., with inane comments to prove who
they are.

I understand your reluctance and your reservations with regards to a forum.
I'll patiently wait and see and won't make any more recommendations to the

Mailing lists always need new members =96 new questions and new viewpoints.
Perhaps Julian was referring to how forums attract juvenile contributors (in
both years and mentality) hence a private area.

In all seriousness John I always look forward to reading your posts.

You ask intelligent questions that get me and others thinking hard and as a
result we all end up with more information.

Your sense of humour in adversity does you great credit! I was really down
in the dumps when my head gasket blew but at least I knew exactly what it
was; how you cope with your ongoing problems I=92ll never know.

Keep your chin up and keep asking away mate!

Hey Pete
You have no idea I hope what crap I go through with this cruiser, to the point somedays I stare at it and have out of body experiences, seeing myself dancing around it like you would a bon fire.
It just seems never ending, need to get a secondhand IP because its not possible to live with it and medications does not help, then have it possibly overhauled aswell,
need the CVs done but that will have to wait and then there is that noise.
But that is probably only the gearbox going to fall out or burn up or maybe even the drive shafts falling off.
Just hope it happens close to home so we can walk the rest of the way leaving that bon fire behind us.
john 92HDJ 80 1HDT

I think you misunderstand me Benoit.

John is indeed most welcome to everyone on this list. He has had some bad
luck with his cruiser and has had to ask lots of questions in order to try
and find out what is causing the multitude of problems with his truck!

His tenacity, tireless patience and endless good sense of humour are a
credit to him and I for one very much look forward to reading any and all of
his posts. My only regret is that as I am about as knowledgeless as John I
cannot really help him. I=92d love to be able to wave a magic wand and make
all his Cruiser problems disappear.

So Benoit, I=92m not criticising John at all as I=92m sure he will tell you; for
me he is one of my favourite posters and this list would be very much poorer
without his comments. I=92m sorry if I gave you a different and bad impression
Benoit!

Hi Benoit
Yes I totally agree with Pete, he means me no ill will at all, I think the idea of the post was to say if they can put up with me they can definitely most definetly help others with their questions.
I have been a pest and I know it and thats why I always think its a credit to those people for their sincere patience and apptitude in dealing with my questions.
Maybe the meaning just got lost in the translation.
I know if it was not for the few members I may have really ended up dancing around the burning hulk of my cruiser.
I deserve a lot more slagging, I am amazed really that I dont come up more often for slagging big time because I think i deserve it.
I honestly dont know how after years of my questions that some of the members are not on strong medication or maybe they now are and the credit is with them who come back for more punishment.
The list has kept me sane just about mind you.
The main problems for me are that I continue to get a lot of problems with my cruiser no matter how much I try to learn.
I can't do a lot of things with the cruiser myself and rely on others who constantly let me down.
So its the list that gives me that little edge or knowledge.
So now im off to find an injector pump anywhere apart from where I live as there seem to be none, get the drive shaft fixed (my diagnosis), get the new brake discs skimmed, wait to get the front stripped and repacked and wait in antisipation for the next issues.
