Email Software Recommendation

Morning All,
Chatting with Roman yesterday and he expressed an interest in the email
software that I use.
I use a program called Virtual Access - it has been around in one form
or another for around 14years and I have been using it for around 12 of
them.
It is a basic text based email program, but has very strong facilities
for supporting multiple email accounts, supporting multiple mailing
lists and message threading.
Message threading is one of those things that once you are used to it
you despair at other programs not being able to support it properly.
Whilst I use MS Outlook for my corporate emails, I use VA for
monitoring around 50 mailing lists covering LC related topics (8
lists), Biofuel related topics (3 lists) as well the majority covering
Internet related issues.
The software has a good set of keyboard shortcuts so once loaded most
of the reading can be done via the keyboard easily jumping from one
unread message to another and easily skipping threads that you aren't
interested in.
I receive around 300-500 messages a day via the program and can usually
scan most of them in around half an hour, and that includes replying to
the ones here. Most of the messages I don't bother reading, but store
them anyway because the messages can act as a knowledge base that can
be easily searched - I can do Boolean searches using AND, OR, Not
operators to search across multiple lists and multiple accounts.
If you are interested in trying something different I can send you some
screen shots and also a download link to the software.
The software was a commercial product, but has now gone open source (so
it is free). Development is slow, but the 5 year old version that I am
running is perfect for list emails.
Also, if you are not on broadband and your ISP supports IMAP, you can
configure it to only collect the headers (subject details) of new
messages and then only download the actual messages that you want to
read.
If you are interested in giving it a try, drop me a line off list.
