Hi Guys
While I was out today yes they let me out for the day I was filling up ythe
cruiser at the pumps and got talking to a trucker. He was driving a Scania
and trailer. I asked a few questions but he seemed in a hurry was it my
questions I wonder. Well he said his Scania was a 126 litre engine and his
tanks needed 1200 litres of Diesel and he would get 2400/2600 miles to that
fill if loaded. If not loaded he would get 3200 for his fill. Now thats 2.5
miles to the litre in aa 126 litre engine. Here it comes, how come we can
only get about 4/6 miles to the litre with a 4.2 litre engine and he gets
2.5 in a 126 litre, his engine is 30 times bigger than mine. He did say it
was 126 litre but then he had a little english because he was from Latvia.

John,
I seriously doubt that his was 126litre engine, he would need a lorry
just to carry the engine at that size!!
I don't think that you can make direct comparisons with regards engine
size and economy because there are so many external factors like
gearing, size and weight of vehicle, engine power/torque, etc.

Hi All
Would have thought a 12.6L engine is closer to what they put in trucks?? If
so then his performance figs are not that impressive. The only way I know
how to get good mileage out of the Cruiser is to use it on the motorway
otherwise it just gets painful hacking round London and then I prefer to use
the (gasp)Saab. Which by the way is a lovely car, its a nearly new 2L turbo
convertible with all the bells and whistles.
