For the size and caperbility, I guess the 120 is quite efficient.

Certainly Toyota's most efficient Land Cruiser in respect of miles per gallon.

When I visited South Africa a few years ago you would see people rock their cars from side to side to try to get that little extra fuel into the tank

I suspect you were seeing taxis doing that? Don't see many normal folk doing that. Actually becomes quite annoying when the attendants start doing it to your car. Will keep you there for an extra time to get another 300ml into the neck.

Yes, they usually were taxis - the mini van ones - and some bakkies as well. First time I saw it was in Beaufort West. It was a gas station near the big truck stop just off the N1

I Morocco I had my tank filled to the brim a few times - I mean a few more mls and diesel would have spilt out of the filler neck!!

Coming down through west africa, had a constant stain of diesel down the side of the car. Seems the attendants always wanted to fill it until it was overflowing Sometimes spending a full 5 minutes dripping a few drops of diesel to get it right to the brim

Well an extra drop out of the pump is another drop sold, regardless of where it lands
