Fwd Fw possible dodgy email warning

Jeremy
Sadly not true. I spent 4 hours last week trying to get some spyware
off my neighbour's PC, and ended up giving up - I think he'll have to
rebuild his system.
And don't be too smug, there *are* viruses for Macs out there.
Now what you *really* need is a room full of Unix machines ... oh, I
suppose that's what you've got now - sort of!

Far be it for me to say as I'm no IT specialist. I use Macs because they
suit my line of work better than anything else (film + photography) and in
all the time I've used them, going back to the beginning of Macs, not one of
my machines or those of colleagues has been affected by any kind of virus. I
know its only anecdotal evidence but...it probably means that something will
happen tomorrow...!

Hi guys,
Oh, at last - an inspiring contribution to the theme "my [substitute
with one of the items listed below or add your own] is better than
yours":
=95=09LC vs LR
=95=09ARB vs TJM
=95=09BFG AT vs BFG MT
=95=09OME vs OEM
=95=09Engel vs Waeco
=95=09Eezi-Awn vs Howling Moon
=95=09syntetic vs semi-synthetic
=95=09petrol vs diesel
=95=09Boris Johnson vs Leninspart (aka Red Ken)
What have I missed?

Hi Jeremy,
Yea me too, don't know people manage to get into such a state.
I was able to remove them in the end with trendmicro's hijackthis (free
tool).
The process is:
Boot into safe mode.
Run Hijack this
Remove everything it classes as not normal, you have to the process each of
them manually, you can usually see them dfdaffdf.dll or something...
Check the startup folder and services.
Clear system restore.
Reboot.
Run scan again and remove viruses.
Reboot and run scan again.
Of course be prepared to rebuild the system ;-)
Good free tools for detection and removal is trendmicro's free online
scanner.
Unix virus, what's that ;-) Amazingly Microsoft are going back this way with
powershell and modular install approach with next version(or the one after)
from what I understand, you should be able to install minimum windows and
run it in 128mb of ram. Cough and LOL. Anyway this list is about cruisers,
guess no one is breaking them at the moment :)
Martin.
