G'day. I came across this forum while trying to identify the source of a leak. looks like it is an acsd leak. I am the second owner of my 1997 turbo diesel glx 80 series land cruiser since 2014. its done 330,000 kms and things are starting to wear out or leak. It costs a packet but I cannot imagine being without my 80 series. I have contacted a couple of mechanics in Adelaide and haven't struck one that has any knowledge of acsd leaks. Its all a challenge finding a knowledgeable but I am determined to keep my 80 series on the road minus the leak. The search continues.

Thanks for letting me join your forum.

Cheers.

the O ring on the ACSD cam shaft fails eventually and starts to leak.

you have three choices: sell your 80. replace the ACSD. remove and blank off the ACSD.

I removed the acsd on my hdft.
add a blanking plate + o ring 24mm id.
Connect the 2 coolant hoses.
No winter starting problems.

My regular mechanic wasn't sure about the acsd.
Sent me to a bloke who said disconnecting acsd would put pressure on fuel pump.
Quoted 2 to 3K to recon pump.
Then offered to buy the 80series if I couldn't invest the money to fix.
Mechanic sent me to someone else.
Said exactly same as you. Much cheaper.
Anyway thanks again for the advice it helped so much.
