Headlight assembly?

Hello everyone, I am new here. I am trying this out because I haven't been having much luck in other places. A little background; I live in the US, I have a 1994 80 series which is for the most part stock. I recently was involved in an accident and have been fixing the front end of my vehicle, the right headlight assembly was shattered and all the tabs on the left were broken, I have been having difficulty locating and factory or OEM headlight assemblies for a reasonable price, most of the aftermarket headlight assemblies are poorly rated or prohibitively expensive, does anyone know how I can replace my headlights for something less than 500 to 700 dollars? Thanks in advance.

Try looking into depo lights which are the new clear class version sold in the states. Prices vary but when I looked they could be bought as little a $200 a pair. [emoji6]

I have to say Clive, I'm really liking the look of your light clusters. I wasn't sure at first but they have really grown on me. Have you sorted the change over issue to high beam?

Yep, all done, but no thanks to my electrickery, I had my mate sort it for me. It took 6 relays (I think) in the end, but that's because I'm using HID's. We had to use extra relays on each side because of a strange left-to-right flashing we had. It was rather confusing, it seemed like the two sides were fighting over the power supply.

I now have side lights, which are 24 panel LED's along with the LED halos, HID dipped, then HID main with the dipped staying on. There's also the two combo CREE LED light bars independently switched on main beam only.

Works a treat, and I'm well pleased.

The best thing Rich, is the shape of the beam.

On dipped, I have a nice crisp cut-off line at the top of the beam, no dazzling the guy in front, and no scatter.

You are such a show off Clive! I would love to get mine looking like that with a legal MOT document here. And I second the DEPO units, mine look like OE and were from Germany, a 1/4 of the price from Toyota but, they do not have the motors to dip the aim, I did say I was going try and swap then from my RHD units but have not got around to it.

well, I didn't say they've got through any State tests. Here we're tested every other year, and mines due in June 2016, so the OEM's are sitting in a box in the shed, just in case.

Hoping it's just a matter of a "drink", only the "drink" is getting bigger at every test.

Oversized tyres, Bull bar, and now the lights... We'll see...

Well it seems I can get a steel bumper that meets regulations but not one for the rear, odd that is it the front you normally hit people with? As time goes on I am tiring from fighting the tide of bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake that meets you with the simplest of modifications, maybe I am just getting too old? The recent rules now get you a 'defectos graves' (fail due to a serious defect) if you have one of two number plate lights out for example.

I am being big and brave and not crying........well not in front of anybody anyway ;.)

Clive, Looking at getting a set of those head lights in black from the States when over in a few weeks, was there any problem fitting them with the headlight washer and grill?? Do you know if they look like they can be converted to be RHD??

From the sellers I've seen, they have the RHD option available, even when sourced from the USA.

Fitting was no problem, it comes with trim transitions.

The only problem on mine, is a slight 5mm or so gap around the 'side light' part of the unit, but you could fill it with black silicone or similar, if it's the same on yours when you fit them.

Wiring is simple, but it depends what you want. The main beams (inner) come on separately from the dipped beams (outer) and as standard are H1's.

I'd recommend LEDs but I have HIDs. They will take some electrickery with relays if you want twin beams (dip & main together, on main beam).

I will be getting mine from alibaba or somesuch thats where they all come from anyway I realized that when i found the multi gauge i wanted sold only in USA or Oz for 3 to 400 dollars before shipping , i think i paid about 130 quid delivered .

Just register then while signed in tell the seller what you want delivered to where asking if they can help and what it will cost , I always get them to send a payment request via paypal as a little extra insurance but i really don't think its necessary as the stuff always arrives quickly without problems .
