Hello everyone,

I have been lurking on this site for a while and downloading all the manuals and reading advise that is already on the site.
Following instructions my details are:-

My name: Tina
My Cruiser: 50th Anniversary LC100
Mods on my Cruiser: None
Plans for my Cruiser: Just to look after it as I intend to keep it for a long time as I've been after one for ages. I have been looking at upgrading the tyres to BFG KO's though as I live on top of the North Downs.
4x4 Experience: Did some off road training at Aldershot about 35 years ago, but, haven't done anything serious for yonks.
Anything else you think is interesting or relevant: Just to explain my username, and for those that don't know the term Newfie, I own, and have owned a few Newfoundland dogs. Although I really think they own you !

Whilst I was looking at a Youtube link from this site I searched for weather there was any info on the size of the drainage tube that should be attached to the bottom of the fuel filter, but, is not attached to mine so that I can attach one. I happened on a video from a Diesel Specialist in Australia. Basically they say that the top of the fuel filter for an LC100 should have a deeper recess in it due to the flow rate involved, and that a lot of OE filters do not have this recess. Link to the video:-

I've had a look at the one's I bought from Roughtrax and the recess is about 1/8th inch and does not look as deep as an original. I've done a bit of searching and Blueprint and a few others seem to have the same looking recess as an original. I have bought a load of stuff from Roughtrax in the past as we've had a Surf LN130 for a few years, and I've never had a problem with anything from them. (By the way the filters that Roughtrax sell are the same for both vehicles)

I would be grateful for any comments from the community who have a lot more knowledge on the subject
as to weather I need to get a filter with a recess on it .

The easy answer is: When it comes to filters, use t0yota original only. No problems, and proven to be the best there is. It's not a great cost compared to the total expenditure.

As above. Toyota do make or at least supply the best filters and they’re not expensive.
Toyota filters all the way as with many of the parts. It’s what makes these trucks great and keeps them great.

Hi and welcome BTW.
