the French alps near the Italian border, when I say near I dont mean just a

we arent going with any operator, other than the channel tunnel and a forumle 1
hotel when we arrive in france and the night before we come home.
plan is to catch the 5pm channel tunnel to calais then stay in a formule 1 south
of calais
tuesday drive down to the region in question.
then during our stay go to interlaken which takes us through geneva, i think
then saturday head back up to the same hotel and then catch the 11am chanel
tunnel back to blighty and drive up home ont he sunday.
this is june which is why i want the lc NOW!

Hey Dyfed
You must remember to fill up with wine on the way back. We have met so many
English people on our trips and they nearly all say,( we just hoped accross
the channel) and then drove for a few hours. When we go we have a four hour
driving to the port then hop on the ship for 18 hours and then depending
where we go hours of beautiful driving on the French motorways ah. You make
us so jelous of hoping accress the channel or under it as the case may be.

Dyfed,
I have been to Lyon and just south a few times, I like the
lifestyle. A few years ago we drove from Chur, in Swtzerland, to
Valence. This was probably the prettiest drive I have ever done, over
several mountain passes. I seriously wanted to go back and do it
again, over a few days, the next year. I think the road was number 19.
This route is not far away from where you are going.
Regards, Clive.

Hi Clive
Its nice to see all our cruisers are not too ill, being able to talk about
that brown or black stuff called marmite and lovely France.
We have been all over the place and not even seen a bit of what we wanted
to see. We have been washed out of tents in june and july and got sunburned
in april. One year we went to a place called argeles I think just on the
border of spain and then went into Andora WOW what a drive up and up you
climb at times wanting to stop for the view but you cant its too narrow of a
road. We went in june and we were all in our shorts and T shirts because it
was warm. when you get to the top you have to travel through a mountain and
when we got to the other side there was one foot of snow never saw the likes
again. Sun one end and snow the other end of the tunnel

John,
In July we are going to what I class as one of the most
interesting destinations in Europe for 4x4 getting out and about,
Iceland. We have Fifteen days there, having spent Three days getting
there on Two ferries, plus a drive to Aberdeen. This has been on my
list for a few years and is about to come of. All I am going to do to
the cruiser is fit a snorkel and CB. Both of these have been advised ,
the CB is mandatory, apparently mobile phones are not to be relied on
there. That looks like it for this year unless I do a Welsh weekend
again. A friend of mine organised some laning and off roading on
private land last year and it was probably the most enjoyable weekend
away that we have ever had. The friend has offered to do the same
again any time I can get a few vehicles together so I may go for it
after Iceland.
Regards, Clive.

Ah iceland
I went there once, for a day trip no less!
Flew from cardiff airport and spend the day touring the area surrounding
reykjavik and kevlavik (where the airport was)
Was a lovely day out there
I think it was in 1991 as I was still a teenager back then
