How long might I have left - Clutch

Hi all,

I have a 1996 80 24v diesel with 161,000 miles. Twice over couple of weeks its slipped when accelerating up a hill in 5th around 50mph, If I let off and just keep a constant speed its fine, press down to go faster and it revs up and after three four slips and it flattens out its goes away and I have since done another 100 miles up down hill no problem. The car had only gone two miles after a three hour sit cooling in between journeys.

Happened twice! Do these clutches suddenly go? should I get it replaced now or will I get more warnings. My old Audi allroad clutch slipped once and that was it, stranded!

I think i would take it as a warning to do something.

Havent looked on mine, but is there a way to see in case oil seal has gone or similar.

Hi mate I sold a truck to a lad I know a year ago and it was slipping then. A year down the road it still driving and slipping at times. He pulls three tonne digger around alot. May just be a miracle it hasn't given up yet.
