In the 80s club finally..

I think I looked at my first 80 around 2015/16 but never pulled the trigger and missed an ideal 80.

My mate has had this one for 18+ years, doubt he's ever pulled anything with it, it's either been used for tip runs(final one for him today) or when he goes shooting and I didn't think he would ever sell but he bought a 200 so I'm in!!

I can't remember what the interior is like condition wise but he has it serviced yearly. Needs a bit of tpc to make immaculate.

I'm thinking to put my 70 on a 7 day auction with ebay tomorrow.

I am rather excited!!

Went to pick up my mates new 200 from Bolton, went it the 80, first time I've spent any real time in one.

So much nicer to cover ground in than my 70 series, it's not without its problems, my mate filled me in on some issues, central locking not working as should, windows are dodgy (hear that a lot and have same issue with mine), bit of rust to sills/arch liner and tail gate, front window has delaminated in bottom corners so i expect a bit of rust there too, does sound lovely and starts on the button, but engine looks old, not sure what I was expecting but I forget the engine in my 89 may be a few years newer.

Interior is really good, steering wheel is a bit damaged from using a steering lock.

I am looking to do something with the head unit as while happy to use Google maps off the phone, would like to pick up calls and stream the occasional tune, I don't have tapes these days.

All in all, rather happy with it, and so are the mutts, Mrs not so much.

Yeah intention is to tidy up those bits and sort central locking.

The way the radio and blanking plate seem to sit behind the dash unit it looks like that has to come out to change them, is that right? And do modern double units fit straight in behind?

If all you need is phone calls and bluetooth, you could always use an fm transmitter dongle plugged into the cig lighter for a tenner, and keep your existing radio intact.

yes, that section of dash fascia has to be removed. have your patient head on and be super careful. it can be brittle and easily break or crack. warm it all up by having the heaters on. make sure you have removed all the screws.
modern double din unit fits, may need to trim a little depending on unit, it will only be a fraction though, if at all.
