Injection pump leak.

Hi,
Has any one had a problem where fuel leaks out of the throttle spindle of the pump of a LJ70? Mine started leaking last year and is now a constant drip meaning the car won't pass a MOT and it's not good to my driveway either.
According to my manual the top housing can be removed and the spindle has a seal that will be the cause of the leak. When the evenings get longer I plan to remove the pump and strip out the top housing. I know this type of job is normally best left to Diesel Specialist but the car is not worth the cost and when an apprentice I rebuilt a few pumps, this work is sometimes made to sound overly complicated, so nothing ventured etc.
Also on the subject of Mitsubishi's I recently found a Shogun on ebay 150 000 miles but ran very well and drove like new, a few weeks ago at a set of traffic lights the revs dropped and it started to run on 3 cylinders, I nursed it to the garage topped up the radiator and then got to work just.It ran but no power at all. After being recovered home I removed the head to find a huge crack between no.2 cylinder valve and injector, to cut a long story short I got a new head from a very helpful firm in Wimbledon but then found a 2 inch crack in the block!! So I now have a K reg SWB Shogun on the drive as well. Apparently the 2.5L engine is prone to cracked heads even in new L200's we have an 03 at work that has blown up this week.
Thanks

Hi David,
Sorry to hear of your woes, but who were the helpful firm in Wimbledon?
that's where I live (well next door in Merton) and they may be of use in the
future.
