injector pump woes again

Hi Guys
Just wondered if anyone has a good understanding of what is going on with my
pump.
Just to remind you I had the injector pump overhauled late last year and
since then I have had engine vibrations when the auto box in put in any
gear.
Prior to the pump failure which was caused by the cold start mechanism
falling off or something like that.
The cruiser would idle at about 800rpm then drop by about 60rpm or so when
put in gear, not too sure of the exact amount it did drop, but it was not
much.
When I got the cruiser back after the rebuild it would vibrate a lot when
put in gear and the revs would drop a lot, which I presume why the
vibrations accured.
The pump guy tried twice to compansate for the drop in revs by giving it
extra trottle which did not work and then extra fuel.
If you remember it was this guy who gave the cruiser back to me with no
coolant in it and it overheated.
Today I went to see him because the vibrations are starting to drive me
slightly madder than what i am already.
He fiddled with the revs and the fuel again for about two hours but when the
revs went up so did the emissions and no change of passing the up coming
NCT test.
Also when the revs were at 1000, it ran too quick and wanted to get away
from me.
So its like there is some sort of compensater in the pump that adjusts the
revs or fuel or something so that when its put into gear and the load goes
on the engine it compensates and all is rosy.
But mine does not do that and what makes it worse is the fact that these
vibrations are or can be intermittant.
I asked the pump guy what is wrong but he either did not know or did not
want to tell me, so im none the wiser.
He has offered to strip the pump down again and see what is wrong.
Any ideas.

Hi John,
You've been a bit quiet ;-)
If you are really panicing call John on 01793 421 166 (Swindon) - he
runs a fuel injection company that has experience of LCs.
I have spoken to him a few times and he has been extremely helpful and
I have put a few others on to him.
Hopefully when I get back from Morocco I'll be getting him to service
the pump and injectors on the 80.
