Hi Lio,
Usually the vertical strut is removed to fit the intercooler, inless it
is a thin one that can be slipped behind it.
I have a couple of pics of various Intercooler installs, I'll send them
to you off list.
As Gareth mentioned I would buy one of their kits, and work on the
basis of re-locating the auto box oil cooler - I have seen these
positioned between the chassis rails just behind the radiator.

I've worked on an AAI interccoled HD-FT and the thing is very well
engineered to fit the stock intake and EGR piping indeed. The HD-T may
be a bit easier to work on, so that a DIY may be worth the time and hassle ?
