As you all know we recently had another visit to Clive out there in Romania.

For my fourth visit there I decided to drive a different route and take in a couple of countries I hadn’t visited before which obviously meant a longer drive, but that’s OK I love driving. :romance-heartbeati:

So this Romanian trip turned into nearly four weeks of driving but like I said I love driving.

Unfortunately this has turned out to be my last overland trip, :angry-cussingblack: because of all that sitting in the car I developed DVT in my left leg and had to be fast tracked into hospital.

As it happened that day I had a hospital appointment for an unrelated problem and I mentioned how my leg was very painful and swollen they obviously realised there was a more serious problem and whipped me straight off for a CT scan which showed a clot in my left leg which is now being treated with rat poison, Warfarin.
This could have been much worse if I hadn't happened to have that appointment on that day, I consider myself very lucky it was spotted in time, thank God for the NHS. :angelic-blueglow:

So back to the drive, even though taking regular stops for food, stretching the legs and toilet stops, it shows what can result from long periods behind the wheel.
So from now on it will have to be just UK trips. :icon-cry:

Blimey Chas sorry to hear that.

The nhs are pretty amazing when you need them.

Good luck with the recovery.

:text-+1: Best to ask the doc, but perhaps DVT socks might help ?

Sorry to hear that Chas. Like you say lucky tho a lucky coincidence.

What sort of stints were you doing behind the wheel/ how long were you stopped for.?

That must have been a very small rat to get in to your vein like that. A good warning to all of us. Perhaps one of the drawbacks of having an auto? Get well soon!

Crikey Chas! That was a close call! As above, the tight sexy socks may be the answer but doc approved of course.

With this and all your other scrapes you’ve sure got a good guardian angel looking after you. A busy one too!

hey Chas, get well soon !

I can imagine worse countries to get stuck in...:shifty:. Apart from the weather, I think you guys have a wonderful island.
Thanks Wout. The weather can be a bit of a problem I must say. Otherwise yes it’s a pretty island in many places.

Hello Chas sorry to hear about your DVT went through something similar but be careful what you eat as most dark green veg affects your INR plus other stuff get back to your doctor to ask if warfarin is long term if so ask for Apaxaban or similar as warfarin is not supposed to be for long term use and if you are up for it walk as much as you can i could save you one of Connies puppies for next year and PLEASE dont give up hope of visiting Clive again if you take it sensible you can do anything you WANT to Get well soon ta steve

I possibly will visit Clive again but by flying there.

You dont have to fly just take a few breaks and have a walk around to get the leg moving blood as you have a big vein in your heel that pumps the blood when you walk so a fly drive holiday wont suit you but a walk drive holiday would be just what you need

And I think I get it bad when I can't stand up straight after driving for long periods of time... I end up with hamstrings that go tight and that then screws with my back... 4Runner and Land Cruiser seats are both as bad for it.

Like my post said Steve, I did take regular breaks as I always do, even on relatively short trips but this time it didn't help

All the best Chas.. The thrill of adventure will have you exploring again.. Wear womens tights.. NOT stockings, That's just wrong
Higgs, is it OK if I wear the suspender belt with tights?

I recon flying would be the best bet.

It’s only a relatively short flight of 3 hrs 15 mins and I can pick Chas up from the airport, we pass it on our way up to the house.

He can have the Jesus-bar seat in my truck when we go out on day-trips.

I know we’ll miss the “epic ditch rescues” and my paint shop boys will have to find other customers, but at least we’ll have Chas with us, it wouldnt be quite the same without him

Glad it’s all sorted mate, you had me worried there for a moment...

Get an old LandRover Chas, with a very heavy clutch... It'l give Ya left leg some exercise:laughing-rolling:
