Hey folks,

Are load disconnect isolators ( e.g. the Redarc SBI12-LLD ) necessary for modern LiFePo4 batteries which have their own BMS? ( e.g. the iTECH120X )

I would imagine the BMS of the battery is there to manage the same as the load disconnect, but I'm not super up to date with modern LiFePo4 batteries as I've been running AGM auxilleries up until this point.

Does a load disconnect isolator provide any benefit for a lithium battery with a BMS, or are they only for older straight-through terminal lithium batteries?

Cheers all.

Some do and some don't. You'd have to check the spec of your particular battery/BMS.
The primary function of the BMS is to provide the correct charging regime and prevent over discharge by monitoring individual cell voltage.
