I had to patch up a join in my exhaust down pipe that was leaking this weekend and it got me looking for a potential replacement system.

I can see that free flowing manifolds and stainless exhaust systems are available in Australia still, but very little here. Has anyone got experience of uprating the exhaust system on replacement? My car is a 4.5 petrol.

Is your 80 petrol or diesel?
My FZJ80 has a very nice 2.5" stainless system by longlife exhausts. Added long before I bought it and still going strong. Sounds nice too.
As for headers for the 1fzfe, I've only found them in the USA or Oz. You could always get a custom exhaust shop to build you a set ££££££.
Situation for diesel motors may be different.....

It's a petrol. I'd really like to replace with stainless. My gun gum bandage repair is working at the moment but it's time to find a replacement.

I used a company who built me a “ tucked up” for overland exhaust in stainless, I also upsized to 3” dia,
beautiful job, yep it was plenty of £loadsa I can’t remember but under a grand and I must have had it for nearly 10 years, they specialise in Etypes and such and the work is 1st class.
the company is Haywood and Scott at Basildon Essex , I am not connected with them at all.

Thanks Both, I've put an enquiry into Longlife exhausts. I'll also call H&S as I've previously had one if their systems on a Subaru forester.

Edit to say H&S sound like they can do it. Just need to take the truck in.

Well I checked with Toyota on the price of an OEM replacement system.. I needed to sit down afterwards!

Had a stainless system made on the fzj80, 2.5" with 2 free flow 200 cell cat converters, one centre silencer and had to add a small rear silencer just to take the drone away. Side exit behind the rear wheel
Kept the stock manifold but had new downpipes made.
If you go full header you will have to consider the egr.
There was very little gain for the cost of a full header, if it was a performance vehicle a full header would be best though.

I'm looking at getting in (via some expats that are returning back to the old sod and piggyback off their container for household goods) either a Manta or a Pacemaker system, including manifold/headers all the way back. Only issue appears down under they don't have dual cats and will need to get them added (and extra bungs). They did start adding cats on 100 series but not for 80 series.
If I had a good exhaust dealer nearby that could do this stuff could be persuaded otherwise but need headers anyway!

Charlie at Prospeed in Cardiff has a genuine talent for custom made exhausts and its usually drive in at 9am and drive out at 5pm job done .

I have had three 3" diesel exhausts made there the first was great , the second made by his assistant was underwhelming and the third i was very happy with once i actually got my truck back (months) . He had some personal issues going on at the time which i would hope must be resolved by now but such things don't take away talent and by the time he had put my truck through its m.o.t he charged me next to nothing for the exhaust by way of apology .

Make of that what you will but my personal thoughts are things go tits up for us all sometimes but he came good in the end and as far as i'm aware he is still in business .

I had a good visit with Hayward and Scott. The gold plated solution is a tubular manifold and exhaust system with a sports cat. I can have the manifold ceramic coated too for heat control. Is there a good solution for removing the EGR?

I've had a Longlife SS exhaust since 2015 and had no probs at all, it was fitted the same day. My one regret is that I didn't do away with the centre box, I stuck to the standard layout
