Milner Fuel Filter

Hi,
Has anyone had a problem with Milner fuel filters? I serviced my cruiser a few weeks ago, then after a session at Piccadilly Woods (great muddy place) it has a problem that the fuel siphons back to the tank when parked (the filter is not leaking). I have not fully checked it out yet(will clamp pipes off this weekend) but wondered if anyone has experienced the problem. I haven't replaced the leaking fuel pump spindle seal yet but I don't think this is the cause! When I used to work on trucks this problem was normally caused by the non return valve failing and letting the fuel run back to the tank.
Cheers

Hi David,
I've always steered clear of the Milner filters and aren't sure if the normal filters actually have non return valves.
Usually the cause of fuel going back to the tank is a loose fuel filter (have you checked the tightness of the actual filter as well as the watr trap at the bottom?) or loose fuel pipes (have you checked these) letting air into the system.

Julian

Hi,
It could also the be that the fuel pipe that goes into the tank is
damaged/leaking.
My friends LJ70 has had the same happen and also my KZJ70 has done it as
well, they are used heavily offroad.
The part is not that expensive about 20 quid, but you have to drop the tank
as well which over all is not that bad.
Worth a check, although that is difficult without dropping the tank, you
might see diesel spillages around the tank or on the pipes if you are lucky.
Get yourself a genuine Toyota fuel filter as well!!
Regards
Martin.

David,
Was your system OK before the filter change?, if so then it is
something you have done during the change.
