Morocco Green card

Maybe so, I got the same cover as if I was in the UK, I'm told that some insurance companies only issue 3rd party green cards for Morocco, so something to look out for.

Its 3rd party only with the NFU, fully comp cover appears to be quite rare.

Sorry forgot to say, yes it is through the CSMA, their recovery service is also competitive for EU cover.

Seems not to difficult to join.

Yes Scott, Carole Nash are great until you decide to go offroad which is frustrating. There are a number of offroad specialists which I can list but not vouch for:

Adrian Flux - really expensive for London, Advance insurance , Brentacre Insurance, Elephant.co.uk , Frank Pickles but they didn't like my roof top tent, Glynwood Insurance, Haden Welbeck, insurancefactory.co.uk, Noel Dazely, performance direct , Peter Best Insurance, Plan insurance and Premium Choice

These are different to the usual suspects like NFU and so on. I've heard bad reports about Sureterm and 2gether insurance so not linked. If anybody ends up using any of these i'd be interested in the experience.

The previous owners of my truck bought an overland policy from Campbell Irvine but feedback was although it was "piece of mind" the policy for Capetown was around £1500 and they seemed to still have to buy third party insurance at each border - they said the company was excellent but this seems a layer that may not be needed.

For some countries you can buy a Comesa yellow card which means you do not need to buy third party at the border. The last owner got theirs through a contact in Kenya and I can DM his email for anybody wanting it - not expensive. For the carnet they bought it from ADAC, the German equivalent of the AA. Much cheaper and very efficient but there is talk that this is going to be stopped - altho European competition laws should mean we can buy it!

Matt, do you insure through the CSMA as well? Or just get breakdown and green card from them. If so, are they ok with mods etc?

Was never even asked for insurance on the Morocco border

When we went to Morocco a couple of years ago, I asked at the border about insurance. The chap replied "excuse me sir, we don't talk about insurance here". I said "but what about the police?", he said "they won't ask about insurance either". We ended up doing the trip that year without insurance..... but, if you have an incident, you will end up deing dragged off to a very 'dark' place until you can provide insurance.

This year we are insured with the NFU who provided the Third party only Green card FOC

Thanks for the detail reply Simon. I'm aware of, or have used, a number of the insurance companies that you have listed. I checked out a couple of the ones that I hadn't used before. Brentacre replied, they can cover the mods but not Morocco.

I've had further discussions with Carole Nash, and I'm convinced that you get a different answer depending who picks up the phone, anyway they didn't get back to me after I supplied a detailed list of mods, so I chased them up and was told that they wouldn't be able to cover the LC as it has a suspension lift. So Carole Nash are a no.

I have yet to pursue Matt's suggestion of the CSMA, as I don't think I'm eligible to be a member.

So far the NFU are the only one to be happy to cover the LC and provide 3rd party cover for Morocco.

Cheers,

Scott.
