Hi guys! I found this plug hanging near the fuel tank and I have no idea of what its use is for. I tried reaching around the area to see if I could feel the other plug that connects to this one but nothing.
I clean it good with contact cleaner spray but the amount of dirt baked into the plug makes me guess this was hanging for years already.
Everything is working in the rear, every light, wiper and such so what can it be?

Thank you for posting this. I too have this plug on my 200. Didnt know what it was and also thought what if water goes into it while washing.
Well nothing happened so Toyota might ve thought of it or dont know..

Trailer connector loom plug? I have a similar looking one on my 90 but it is inside the body.

Hu thank god its nothing major. I am waiting for appointment with a LC specialist so was going to ask him about this.

If you have a test light or multimeter put the hazard lights on and probe it.

Seriously, I am 0% mechanical thats y I am waiting for LC specialist appointment to certify that car is ok. The car passed 1 test then I wanted to have another more robust test.

Is that the connector for a rear diff lock? But I see that you have a model that doesn't have one. If so it might just be redundant wiring. I'm not sure, but there are some pictures elsewhere on the forum of the wiring for the rear difflock so might be worth checking.

Agree.... Looks suspiciously like Diff lock plug. Have a root around in the same Location there should be a smaller 2 pin plug for dash light....I think its wrong Location for Trailer plug..... Thinking about it there was a short cable/loom With a male one end which plugged into the Female (shown in pic) Then it split into Two males the other end that plugged into Diff lock

If you poke around behind the dash or in the engine bay, you'll find there are a number of redundant wiring looms just like the one you posted about. Toyota have long had a practice of wiring a vehicle for every available option, as it means producing only one wiring loom, hence saving production time. When you order extras with a new car, the piece is simply added, or can be added at distribution if necessary. This is how several of us have added cruise control on the D4D engine. (Even though it was never a sales option new in some markets, like mine)

Thank you for the insight guys.
I'll send these pics to the dealership see if they can pin point what it is, because if it is for a trailer that would be awesome since I actually need to power my boat trailer lights

No need for the dealer mate (they probably won't know anyway - these trucks are out of production nearly 20 years now) The trailer wiring loom is in beside the jack in its compartment ready to go. It's a white plug with 6 or 8 pins, usually found taped beside a bigger rubber-y connector in there. There are pics in a thread from a couple of years back

Yep, they just told me there is no ready-to-go wire for the trailer. Haha. I found mine exactly where you said it would be. And that hanging one is for the nonexistent diff lock system.
Awesome, thanks for the help
