new 'sport turbo'

Hi guys
just to share some thoughts with you...
at the beginning there was a waiting time to fit my new turbo(one
month :-( )and after waiting 4 days at Toyota I proudly went into my
'new' car and went for a drive home.
to be honest I did not felt that 'big' difference but anyway the car
response better... now the next day it won't start on the way to my
job-only uuhuuuhuuuhuuuh.
towing the car at Toyota expenses and stayed there the whole weekend
to here on monday morning that the problem was solved and it was air
into the system and the diesel filter was dirty and blablablaaa and
that the car is ready and no more problems..... until this morning-
the well-known uuuhuuuuhuuuuh and call to my job to be picked up
early in the morning(0400-GMT)
and again contacting Toyota and getting the advice to push the filter
until it starts and indeed it started but not as good as usual....
Now the question is when it will happen again and what might be the
problem. both times I did started the webasto for 10 minutes and the
1st time the webasto was working but not today though it was engaged...
just cloudy thoughts and some mobbing at my job-'blow it with
dynamite' , drive it to the junk yard etc.....

Hi Lubo
I fell for you, the amount of times I have thought about burning it, kicking
it, and all sorts of wonderfull ideas how to get my own back on it.
Dont let these thoughts win you over or you will be driving a Yaris next.
I know in fact I think we all know what a pain it is when things just keep
going wrong.
Sure im just waiting for the next big break down or repair bill, I can feel
it coming.
Dont ask me why we persivere in keeping these money pits I really dont know.
I still have to get over the feeling of will it get me there and back this
trip this time.
Whats that noise, that sound, that feeling, that wasn't there a while ago,
and then the usual shit not again. And then you have a lot of people who
drive them all the time without any trouble.
I hope its something small and can be sorted quickly for you.
But if you get a good deal on the dynamite I may be interested for the next
time it lets me down.
cheers

Hi John,
I am one of those people who have had no trouble whatsoever with their
TLC's. I am on my second one now, the only failure (in three years) on my
first LC was the offside rear taillight blew, funnily enough that was the
same fault I had on another Toyota I had, a Supra, also in three years
motoring. Maybe I am going to get hit mightily in the future. I do
sympathise with you though, you do seem to have had more than your fair
share of problems.

Lubo,
Change the main filter in the engine compartment. You can prefill the
new filter element with diesel which means little or no bleeding
required.
Any repeat of the dirty filter saga and you should investigate the
strainer in the fuel tank. Removal of the second row of seats and the
carpet is required. You will see the inspection panel and gain access to
the fuel pick up pipe and the sender unit for the fuel gauge. Take care
when removing.
Check strainer, fuel pipe and the well in the tank for foreign bodies.
Good luck and I hope you can work inside as I expect Norway is cooling
down as October progresses.
BTW - Did the garage connect the little pipe from the turbo to the top
of the injector - the boost compensator. Failure to do so results in
underfueling as the boost rises and hence poor performance.
Gareth.

I DO drive Yaris again-thanks God Toyota rent it out for me....
So I'm not alone with those thoughts...
and it's true - I know of many proud owners of LC but those are
people that got there LC new and toke good care all the way.
though mine had only one owner before me ( it was a woman) the car
was not at its best at the first place and I thought I'll fix a
little bit of this and that and then it will be OK-but the fool never
learn!!!! whatever you do or invest you'll never get your money back....
my hope is the same though I believe Toyota won't charge me.....
that's what is positive at Toyota
the dynamite is not a current option 'couse I might be spotted on the
terrorist list
