Hi All
As you all know I have a poorly 93 4.2L TD and last night having read a
number of posts on ABS at http://www.ih8mud.com/
I thought I would try the paperclip method of viewing the ABS codes. Wrong
connector though as they seem to be suggesting
http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=38454&highlight=Code+jump The guy
who was asking the question had a 96 and his connector which is pictured in
his post is the same as mine a 93? Same problem too which is he needs a
OBDCII connector. I have downloaded the software from scansoft onto my
laptop but now need a cable that will fit the LC socket? Any ideas. I have
searched but had no luck yet.

Hi Simon,
I looked into On Board Diagnostics for 80s a while ago, and as far as I
can remember whilst ours have a similar diagnostic port it isn't
actually OBD II standard, it is an earlier version so the reader might
not be much use.
If I am wrong, you can generally get hold of the cables on eBay.
Going back to the ABS, there is a diagnostic tree for it detailed in
the manual including details of running the built in diagnostic
facility - I can't find it in Haynes, but if someone here has access to
the manual and a fax/scanner, they may be able to get a copy across to
you.
One other thing to check, what is the brake fluid level like? If this
is low it can affect the ABS operation.

Hi Julian
I was worried that the plug was a generic toyota one as all the others look
the same. I will try Ebay. Brake fluid is full and new as I changed that
last weekend. When replacing the pads I may have mixed up the spacers and
now one pad drags slightly and I will pull them out and have a look at them
again.
Good call on the sunburnt brits we really have no idea do we??

Hi Simon,
The one that amazes me is the 'folickly challenged' walking around with
bright red heads -I am sure they must glow in the dark when they get
home.
