Can anyone help....My 80 series will only start using both batteries. I have changed the starter motor and also changed batteries but it won't start with just one battery. We need it to so that we can use the other one to charge stuff like the fridge overnight and then start the car in the morning with no problems even if one battery is drained. Any ideas why it takes two to start and not one and how can i fix it? Cheers, Portia

If it's a standard 80, then its a 24v starting system by design. Changing it is possible. Search the forum, the answers are here.

Welcome by the way :icon-smile:. Introduce yourself in the section of that name.

Welcome to the forum!

As above I'm afraid, you need to read up on the subject, then choose whether to keep the 24V starting circuitry and to use a third battery for your accessories, or to convert to 12V start and have only 2.

If you've recently spent a fortune on a new 24V starter, then it may be more cost effective to simply add a third battery and its split-charge circuitry.
