Hi,
The glass bowl fuel filter, filtering out the water, has proved itself extremely usefull - particulary when fuelling up in Mauritania.
Best,
Cedric

Peter,
Racor Type 500FGSS is a tried and tested solution. Fit it before the
OEM filter as changing Racor cartridges is cheap, quick, and easy. You
can buy it here: http://www.feltonmarine.co.uk/. Cartridges are here:
http://www.asap-supplies.com
A funnel is fine but messy, and you would not like the stains and
smell inside the car.
Please also remember that even if you don't like the look and smell of
fuel at a pump and your reserve is running out, you may have little or
no choice. Storing fuel from different sources in different containers
may help.

Hi Peter,
Your best option would be either a Racor turbine series such as the
500FG or 900FG. It is big but I prefer the 900FG as the dirt capacity is
much greater. Filters are very easy to change (and cheap) you just screw
off the top lid and drop a new one in. If running a walbro pusher pump
then just turn the key on for a minute or so to let the fuel fitler
refuel with fuel and get rid of any air and then start and you are on
your way. The filter elements as they are not in a metal canister just
a paper element are very light and not at all bulky to carry.
Regards,
Craig.

Hi Craig,
Have you bought one recently? - the supplier list members have used in
the past, based in the US, was saying the the recommended pump is being
replaced but last time I heard they were still waiting for the
replacement.

Don't suppose you have those suppliers details handy?
I'm going to run with the extra filter and pusher pump.

Hi guys,
I've run my LC using a second tank with and without a pusher pump and,
frankly, I did not notice any difference. The guys I have travelled
with who were using a similar setup also confirmed this. Now go figure

Hi Niall,
The one a few people have used is:
http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/
They were the ones struggling to get the new models that are replacing
the 6065, although they are listing the FRB-5 on their site so they may
well have them in stock now - follow link for new FR series.

Could be deemed as belts and braces.
Looking at the performance of some fuel filters/water seperators - they
can run a couple of hundred litres per hour.
mechanism puts additional strain on the IP. And if so is it enough to
bring on IP failure.
I don't know the answer
Cheers

IMHO, it doesn't. What I thought could make a difference, but then I
found it didn't, was the extra distance that fuel has to travel from
the tank sitting at the far end of the chassis.

I was going to fit the extra filter before the pump - to see if there
was any issues before fitting the pump.
Thanks for the reply
Niall
