There's an old lady lives alone two doors from us, she still gets out up the shops & into town but lately she's needed help from total strangers to get home, so I've bought her one of those big button senior citizen mobile phones, i need a really cheap payg sim card to put in it which i will put some credit on when needed, looked around the web but it's a minefield, anyone got any advise/experience

Not sure about England but in Ireland tesco mobile have one of the best pay as you go set ups.

JUst been reading reviews about giffgaff Gary, lot of mixed reviews.

It was a while ago now but i used an o2 pay as you go sim for about 7 years and never once did i manage to use up my free calls and text , I used to put £10 a month on it and every six months or so stop topping it up for a few months because it was the only way to spend the accumulated credit . The only time i called customer service was when my phone was stolen , all i asked for was the same number and if possible the same package on a sim . It arrived the next day and the £80 credit that i had on my stolen phone was included

I don't use the web on my phones but have noticed the options often offer unlimited calls and text OR unlimited gigabytes if you want both it might be worth investing in one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fonerange-Unlocked-Waterproof-Dustproof-Shockproof/dp/B00GLQHN8E and getting two sims .

Hmm interesting - I've used giffgaff for a while now and not had any probs. Runs on O2's network, supports 4g etc. But there'll always be issues on any network I guess.

Sorted now, went down Tesco's , £10 top up & they give you £20 extra, you have to use the £20 in a month or loose it but you still have your original tenner
