So my 120 had the MOT test last week and failed on a split CV boot, which I asked the MOT place (not Toyota) to change the part as I had no time to do so, and they then passed it.
It then went for a service yesterday and I get a call from the Toyota stealer with the following noted:
As it had passed it's MOT I told them to not to do anything else on the car, he asked why and I told him I know the pollen filer is good, cause I (well Crispin) changed it only two weeks ago. He starts talking about the brakes, but as I was running out of time I told him I would chat to him when collecting the 120 later.
So I go and pick up the car, and he sheepishly says that the pollen filter statement was a mistake on his part as he misunderstood what the techie had put this down on the sheet and that they have now checked it and it is indeed ok, I just nod and think what a cock.
He bleats on about the brakes and that these are worn and £300 to do the front axle and I basically told him to bugger off. I questioned as to why the independent MOT place had not picked up on this brake wear issue, and he excused it as they did not/could not check this properly as this is the inner pads so hard to see.
So then I asked him about changing the diff oils and why this was not part of a service routine, and he says it's a top up only thing, fair enough I suppose, but considering I bought the vehicle from them and they have serviced it every year since, I would have thought this would have been thought about sooner. Similar story with the aircon.
From my perspective this really is a breech of trust issue, I caught them out in a lie and he tried to cover it up with some lame excuse. I really can't trust anything they say and I will check
the brakes this weekend to establish who is telling the porky here. Really pissed off with them for once again trying to extort money out of me, so much so that I have now cancelled the service plan with them and will be looking elsewhere for future servicing.
Oh and on a positive note my tires are good and the LC is in really good condition for it's age... well thank fook for that!

- Pollen filer needs replacing, it really dirty.
- Front break pads 100% worn and disks are rusty and have a lip (pads are a year old, I changed them myself)
- Records show diff oil has not been changed
- Similar with the Aircon, no record of it being serviced.
