Reverse Gear

Has decided it doesn't want to play, worked fine when I came home last night
Drive works fine

I know its £££ but what could be the possible causes ???
Will be talking to the mechanic tomorrow

Automatic or Manual ??

I'd be surprised if reverse suddenly failed without warning on a Manual as its all simple mechanical stuff, it will wear slowly.

Autos on the other hand . . . . .

Hmmmmm.

When you select Reverse, does it show 'R' on the dash display ??

I'm thinking it might be something simple like the rods & linkages getting out of adjustment, or a bad connection in the bunch of connectors under the centre console.

If it thinks its selected reverse it is probably something internal - like a solenoid.
