Salisbury Plain 25th

I must echo Alan's words, that lunch almost had me beat, but I did manage to
force down some spotted dick and custard a bit later! A good lunch and
pleasant chat. It was nice to meet a few people I knew only by name from
ELCO. Also to meet again Rockslider Ray and John from Birmingham.
A great day for the driving, comparing notes on tyres, techniques, all sorts
of 4x4 things and also info picked up about repairing my winch after I
managed to pull the line off the drum and break the anchor point.
I never usually go off-road on my own, but after lunch I headed off cross
country to find civilisation (and a jet wash) and also for my sat nav to
pick up a road I could follow home.
Well done Julian

Hi Benoit,
Spotted Dick is a boiled suet pudding with currants in it (the spots).
The end of the winch line is attached to the drum by a little bolt, it
doesn't actually take any strain when the winch is used, it just keeps the
line attached, I wanted to remove the line to clean mud off, and my winch
has great resistance when trying to pull the line off by hand, so I attach
it to a fence post and reverse the Cruiser down the road paying out the line
as I go, but this time I went a bit too far and pulled the anchor point off
as well! I think a piece of duct tape would do the job just as well.
Ray would probably send pair, but be prepared for high postage cost, I
think he mentioned that they weigh about 37 kilos, they are bolted directly
to the chassis, have a look at his website for more information.

Yes "good day", never seen so many 70 series in one day.
Julian must thank the landlord for a great service we had at the bustard
inn(he will remember me, the one that knocked over the drink :))
Good to meet a few people, even though we were a bit late in the morning due
to someone over sleeping that was out of my control :-(.
Look forward to the next one.
Martin Naylor.

Hi,
Myself and the crowd echo the thanks for the day. The 70s will
soon outnumber the 80s.
Did the wallet loser find it? (Sripads passenger).
