Satellite navigation mini sd card

I recently went to a toyota dealership in North Queensland to enquire about upgrading from my current 2017 mini sd card to a more recent version and was astounded when they quoted me $417, how do they justify that price

Just a guess but software updates and map development/integration probably takes some non trivial effort. And effort costs $

Today I updated Lexus maps on 2022 model. I directly purchased maps from Lexus site as it recognises VIN and recommends correct maps.
It was 119£. It was 13GB update. I downloaded it to USB and updated in the car.
For you there should be some option like this where you can purchase from Toyota account and do it yourself
